And, we still expect 2 or 3 more typhoon before December ends. But, it will be milder.

It's now cold months here. No winter snow, though. Just cold weather - from 21 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees celsius. It's sunny and breezy.

The cold winds from the northern hemisphere brings the chilly winds and cold nights. So, I don't switch on my electric fans now at night.

I sleep with opened windows. I can't sleep when windows are closed. And, the cold breeze comes through the open window to my bedroom. I don't have a bed, but I sleep on mattress on the floor - with bedsheet of course.

Last Sunday, when I got outside, there was a thick fog. The ricefields are covered in fog. It was cold, and I don't have sweat t-shirt or sweater. Now that I'm getting older, I could feel the cold weather. So, I think I will have to look for sweater.

Cold months here are from November to February, sometimes extended until March. It's drier, too, unlike during wet season (or rainy season)

  Comments

Rain

Typhoons come and go. Some were devastating to properties and resulted casualties to people. We live with it. We experience the onslaught of typhoons. Inevitable part of Filipino life - the rainy season from June to November. Year in and year out.

The country receive at least 22 typhoons a year. What country can beat ours? Several of these are super typhoon or equivalent to hurricane in the United States. Weather men said we're the second most calamity-prone country in the world!

Last September alone, there were five typhoons that came, and gave unprecedented rainfall.

But rains - I like the rains. The sound of rain falling on the roof is sweet music to my ear. The staccato sound lull me to sleep.

I like the drizzle. The birds fluttering in the drizzle which for me looks like their rain dance. I like to watch them flutter from branch to branch...singing in the rain.

I like the birds when it drizzle. I like the freedom of the birds despite the rain. They're playful. Playing in the rain...happy and free.

I don't experience sadness when it rains. Just a time for slowing down. The sound of rain invites me to quietness, sometimes.
Sitting still, listening as the rain fall on the roof, the pavement, and seeing my plants drenched in rainwater I know they're happy. I'm happy to see them happy.

  Comments

title-7235117

  Comments

internet disconnection

Since April, I had my internet disconnected because I want to have an "internet fasting" I mean, not to open my computer, and not to read, or surf the net.

Then, first week of August, I decided I'm ready to get connected again. But, I decided to connect with another wireless provided.

Last Monday, the people of this internet provided came and connect my computer. While they were here to install the new internet, the speed was fast, and there's good signal.

Wow! after they left, and enthusiastically logged in to my email address, I was always hanged and can't get signal. The speed was so slow. I think it's only about 384kbps or less. It looks like a dial-up.

I thought if this continue like this, maybe when I pay the fee at the end of this month, I will have this disconnected again. But, I was reminded that I signed a one-year contract. That means, whether I'm connected or disconnected, I have to pay in full the one-year contract.

So, I think I 'll have to stick with this problematic internet connection. I thought to myself, anyway, this is better than not having any internet connection.

I spent too much time in my email boxes. I think I have to limit the time reading and answering. I want to go to this site and continue to write, but always have no more time. I want to spend more time to write to this blog because this is my way of writing. And going back to writing is what I really want to do.

Also, I cannot spend long time now. My eyes get tired now after five hours of reading continously. My eyes are aging, too.

However, I'm still active. Although it is rainy season here now, I still find morning a good time to exercise. If it doesn't rain the night before or early morning, that is.

So, I feel healthy and physically fit at 68.

My 68th birthday last August 1? Not eventful. It's raining then. I was able to go as far as the bookstore and browsed and scanned books. There are two books I'd like to buy - The Art of War by Lao Tze, and the Philosophy for Filipinos. So, I'll see when I can buy this. I could be a belated present to myself on my birthday.

I'd like to learn to put pictures or gif images here. Can I do that? If I know how, I will.

  Comments

title-5998321

I always procrastinate. I put aside writing to this blog. I want this space but sometimes, I don't spend time here.

Not sure what to write - that sometimes keep me away from this site. but, I always think I should go back here and write.

Maybe what I should do is practice writing even without any subject matter. Just hodge-podge. At random.

Our weather is changing. Could be the effect of global change. It is summer here but the last several days, it's raining, and the temperature went down a few notches. It's cool when it supposed to be hot. There's rain when summer supposed to be dry.

There was a low pressure area that caused the the rain and lower temperature. And, because it rained, I can't play tennis, unable to jog. I did indoor exercise just so I won't skip my physical fitness exercise.

The weathermen here said it is unusual, and abnormal the weather for the last several days. It's summer and yet it's raining, causing floods, mudlide and flashflood in some towns.

April and May is summer months here. Come June, is the start of rainy season.

I can't keep faithfully the ones I've made last year. I'll just try my best to post whenever I have the time or feel like it.

I'm here just so to make this site know I'm interested to be here. Hopefully, I'll have time to write here, and good ideas what to write about. Can't decide what topic to write, that's why.

So, I hope everybody is doing fine, and well in their blogging here. I hope to read all's entries here.

I joined the tennis clinic last May 5 to May 16. There were about 25 attendees -all were young boys and girls, and college students, and I was the only senior in the group. I enjoyed the camaraderie and the lessons we learned were truly beneficial to us.

The clinic was held in the afternoon at 2:00 to 5:30, and gosh! the afternoon sun was incredibly hot. The sunlight was so bright. It was summer here, that's why. Ours was an open tennis court - thus, open to scorching sun, and rains, too.

By May 16, we had our tournament. There were 6 groups - according to age group. I played in the third group. I won the semi-finals -score of 7 - 5. At the finals, I lost - 5 -2. I was third place only.

But, I enjoyed the play so much. It was exciting and a new experience to me.

I play every morning after my jogging and exercise. And, I noticed that my wrists, arms and shoulders are gaining strength that I can smash the ball to my opponent. And, my footwork is getting even faster now. I can reach and scoop the ball and throw it to the opponent. It was hard to scoop the ball when it bounced so low. My coach is glad at my good showing, and he's happy that I'm learning fast and good; that others said I wouldn't be able to withstand the play. But, now the saw that I can finish two games!

Tennis is exciting sports for me. So, I hope to play for as long as I can.

There was a thunderstorm as I write this. The thunderbolt is deafening. And, it's raining. It's rainy season now here in the Philippines. Five typhoons had already came and gone. And, there's a low pressure again and so we expect some more rains.

If it continues to rain till early morning, we can't play, even if it is drained of rainwater, is surely wet and slippery. The court is of asphalt and cement.

I'll close this here because the thunderstorm is getting too close on the roof and thundering bolt is like sensurround to the floor.

I just want to maintain my blog here because I still plan to write when I have the time.

It's still cold here in the Philippines. It's 21 degrees Celsius, and no typhoon. It's the best time to visit the PHilippines if anyone would care to come. Daytime is still chilly, and cloudy for the past week. Evening and early morning is cold. The wind is chilly. And, drizzling. It's a beautiful feeling when it's gently drizzling and chilly.

Other countries I read are having very very cold weather - in the minus degree. Here, we don't have snow. No winter. We only have to seasons - the dry and the wet (rainy). I hope those in the cold countries will have respite from snowy weather. I hope every one is in good health despite the cold weather in their countries. And, happy. Please smile everybody. I care for everybody.

Just 3 hours to go and it's 2008, We're now celebrating New Year's Eve. The neighbors in my area are already lighting the firecrackers as early as this morning. And, right now, the firecrackers explosions are deafening to the ear. Every one - young and old, man and women, the children and seniors are excitedly exploding firecrackers.

The fireworks are beautiful. It's like painting in the sky. I like to watch the fireworks. There are different designs, and as it explode in the sky, the people are silent for a moment and then they exclaim "OH", "AY" "AH" Fireworks and firecrackers are a must in New Year's celebration.

I have special but simple foods for this New Year's Eve celebration. I expect my children to come and we will celebrate together, and then partake the foods I prepared and cooked.

I like New Year's celebration. It's the merriest celebration for me. There are neighbors whose Karaoke are now churning danceable song. There will be singing and dancing and singing among the young ones. There will be drinking among the men here. This will end till the wee hours of the morning, January 1.

And, tomorrow, the streets will be littered with spent firecrackers and fireworks. So much to clean and clear away

I greet every member here HAPPY NEW YEAR. My wish is WORLD PEACE, HARMONY, LOVE and UNDERSTANDING among Muslims and Christians, and Prosperity and good health to all the members here.

And, next time, I have something to write about. I'm learning also to put images and pictures here. I have some pictures I'd like to insert or upload here in the blog, but don't know yet. I'm self-studying how, and hope in due time, I'll learn about it. I want my blog to be beautiful and relevant.

I was unable to go walking this morning because of the morning rain. I did a little aerobics at home to sweat. It feels good after I sweat. Feel light and energized. I have to exercise for fitness and health sake. And, I disciplined myself to get up at 4:00 in the morning to go walking at the sports complex. 4:30 a.m., I'm off to the sports complex which is about 800meters from my apartment. I have to pass by the ricefields, and national highway which at that early morning hour, it's still dark. there are lamp posts along the national highway, but far and between. I cross the highway on the pedestrian lane to be on the safe side.

From the national highway, it's still 400 meters to the sports complex. The street is wide and lined with acacia trees. On the other side, are exclusive private schools - two are catholic schools, one montessori school and one a public high school. So, by 6:30 a.m., the street is already busy with all the private cars, school buses, tricycles and jeepneys transporting the students.

Once inside the sports complex, I entered the oval field and I do breathing exercise first, and a little stretching and warm up. then, I brisk walk the oval field cum track & field, six times. And, then, go to the volleyball court facing the morning sun, and do various exercises like a little of aerobics, a little of yoga, (particularly the posture and balance), and slimming exercise (I want my tummy to revert to flat again) and then, jog the length of three volley courts, 3 badminton courts and two basketball courts twice. After that, I slowed down, and walk to the tennis court. I learned the basic tennis lesson only last February. I played daily in the morning after my walking/jogging and exercise, with my trainer or sometimes with the ball picker-boys. I still don't have my own racquet because it was expensive. Hopefully, I can buy my own before the end years. I used the trainer's tennis racquet.

Before I took tennis lesson, I went to see an orthopedic surgeon to know if I can still play tennis. He had my knees exrayed and saw a little problem but, he said, I can play provided I won't play pro but just for exercise, and change my sandals to an appropriate tennis shoes. But, tennis shoes is also very expensive. Then, last month, I bought a cheaper one. Unfortunately,I didn't know what I bought was a running shoes. No wonder, my feet hurts after I played. So, I put on again my sandals.

36 days from now, I'll be 66. I feel great. And, happy because I now play the sports of my childhood dream - tennis. There is no other sport for me but tennis ever since I was in grade six. I imagined myself playing tennis when I grow up but not when I grow old. I'm happy, I'm thankful to God, because I was given the opportunity to play tennis even at my age now. It's a fulfillment of my childhood dream. I believe I should keep dreaming and keep it in my heart and mind and pray it will happen one day. And, it happened. My dream has came true. That's wonderful and great.

While browsing, I chanced upon this website. When I opened it, I was glad I found this site. For sometime now, I've been mulling to create my own blog but don't know how. So, when I read the contents of this site, I didn't have a second thought and I signed up.

This is a good site because it gives opportunity to everyone to create own blog. I'm interested in writing - about my seniorhood, and life's journey into the evening of life stage. And, maybe, touch on other aspect of life and experiences.

I posted my first writing yesterday, but when I opened my blog, I found out it was not posted.

Maybe tomorrow, I can again review this site and find out how I can edit a few entries in my blog and will read other member's blogs and perhaps will give comment. tonight, I feel so sleepy already, and couldn't think well. I've been out of the house since morning and I also had my hair trimmed.

This is just a test writing. I hope to write better next entry. I don't want to waste your time when you visit my blog and read my entry because I know all of you are intelligent and are busy people. Just testing this, anyway.

Maybe, Monday, I'll be back here.
